A milestone was achieved today at Bundaberg Patrol Group. Sergeant Steve Schultz had a birthday today, and as it was a special birthday he has to retire from the Queensland Police Service.
Schultzie as he is affectionately known was piped out of the station at 10am today. He was filmed and photographed by media as he walked through the car park and shook hands with officers and adminstration staff who have worked with him for years.
There has already been a social farewell function with members and ex members from the station, with special presentations and telling of the old ‘war stories’ that make everyone laugh, and we all know that many of the unbelievable stories are actually true!
Today it was just a bit different, it was emotional, quiet other than for the piper, and there were some tears as Schulzie, accompanied by his wife said farewell to the Queensland Police Service after more than 36 years of service to the community. Everyone wishes them the best for the next chapter of their life.
