The annual Cane 2 Coral fun run and walk will be held this Sunday, resulting in a number of road closures. To minimise the impact roads will close and reopen in sections. Actual road closures and opening times will be under the direction of Bundaberg Police.

The 21.1km run starts at Central Queensland University at 6:45am and goes along Isis Highway/Takalvan Street, Bourbong Street, Branyan Street, Quay Street west, along river bank, up Targo Street and joins the 15km course.

The 15km run starts at Quay Street car park at 7.30am and goes via Scotland Street, Telegraph Road, Ashfield Road to Kalkie School, turning into Bargara Road and progressing down Bargara Road to the Esplanade finishing at Neilson Park.

The 8km race starts at Kalkie State School at 8.30am and will follow the same route as the 15km race to Bargara’s Neilson Park. Due to increased entries this year, Bargara Road between Kalkie School and Port roundabout will close from approximately 6.30am to reduce traffic congestion in and around Kalkie School for the 8km start. Participants can park at Kalkie School or be dropped off using Bargara Road from the Ring Road approach or use the alternate route of Gahans Road, Sauers Road and Zielke Avenue or from the east, Springhill and Rubyanna Roads.

The 4km course starts at Bargara State School and will follow the same route as the other runs.

Residents wanting to travel to/from Burnett Heads can get through at the roundabout on Bargara/Port Roads under police control. Nielsen Park remains accessible via Davidson Street and See Street.

All roads should be re-opened by approximately 11.30am.

Refer to the Cane 2 Coral website for route maps and more information.
