This week is State Education Week. Running from Sunday, May 18 to Saturday, May 24, this annual week long celebration is an opportunity to recognise the talent and achievements of our students and teachers in state schools.
Incorporated into this week is the annual Showcase Awards. This is a chance for schools to showcase their work to the wider community. Good luck to all the schools in the Wide Bay Burnett area who have nominated projects! Check out the State Education Week events on the EQ website to see what other events are planned for this week.
From a police perspective, we value the partnership we have built with our local schools through our Adopt a Cops (primary schools) and School Based Police Officers (secondary schools). These officers are vital in building better relationships between police and school children. They also provide important talks within schools educating students on topics such as cyber safety, road safety, staying safe and life as a police officer.
So during State Education Week, let’s also take a moment to thank our Adopt a Cops and School Based Police Officers for a job well done!
