The Monto Family Practice again arranged a wonderful day for all years 4, 5, 6 and 7 students from all Monto local schools on Friday 26 July 2013.

A coordinated approach to educating this large group of children has meant a wonderful fun day with a variety of activities that  appealled to all participants.   The students commence with being placed into groups so they mingle with students from other schools.

Police gave a presentations on cybersafety and how to remain safe online, and knowing not everyone on line is who they say they are.

The kids also practiced valuable life skills of cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrated by the Monto Ambulance committee, and  had a fun lesson on tables manners and etiquette. The students put their etiquette into practise by using a knife and fork to correctly eat fairy bread. That was quite a sight!

Surf Lifesaver Erin from Bundaberg gave  talks to ensure everyone knows what the red and yellow flags mean, and where it is safe to swim, and the children practised a mock rescue utilising the rescue tube.

Diabetes Queensland explained about diabetes and how to prevent it, followed by a moving and shaking dance/exercise session after the celebrity cook off and lunch.

Sergeant Vern Crous from Monto Police station was one of the judges and states the food was superb and the students had a flair for the craft of food presentation, and everyone was a winner.

It really was a great Big Day Out in Monto.
